abstract = "This work aims to characterize the climatology of the vertical
profile tropospheric ozone (O3), as well as assess the interannual
and seasonal variation in surface ozone and altitude on the
metropolitan region of Manaus, through the performance of
inter-annual climatic phenomena. For this analysis, this research
bases on historical series of thirteen years of estimating O3 from
the orbital platform AQUA, contemplating the years of 2003 to
2015. The methodology applied is based on the selection of two
years uncharacteristically contrasting. The years of 2008, whose
persistence of negative SST anomaly lasted for six months, and
2015, which presented positive temperature anomalies for twelve
consecutive months. Later, vertical and averages were calculated
standard deviations for the rainy and dry quarters about the study
area. For an analysis of particularly rainy or dry days, two case
studies were carried out. The observations carried out by the
environmental satellite AQUA indicate that there is an important
connection between weather conditions and air pollution levels in
the region. For the negative phase ENOS the mean concentration of
O3 was below air quality thresholds established by CONAMA and WHO.
On the other hand, when set the positive phase of ENSO, increased
concentrations of tropospheric ozone, coinciding with the period
of increased availability of solar radiation, low convective
activity in the region and intense firing activity can become
worrisome, because concentrations between 60-70 ppb are considered
harmful to health of the population, according to the WHO
guidelines.",
